Tape Guys

Built a mobile-first BigCommerce storefront designed for B2B buyers, with improved workflows and seamless integration across existing business tools.

Project Overview

Tape Guys manufactures a wide range of adhesive tapes, both branded and private-label, tailored for HVAC, restoration, and energy auditing professionals. As their catalog grew and more business buyers came on board, it became clear their site needed a serious upgrade. The original platform wasn’t cutting it: mobile users struggled with navigation, many orders still came in by phone, and cart abandonment was becoming a regular headache. So the goal was simple: give business customers a better way to browse, quote, and order.

Approach / Work done

We rolled out a fully reworked BigCommerce setup built around performance, usability, and tight integration with the systems Tape Guys already relied on.

What We Delivered:
  • Refreshed the storefront with a redesigned theme: we focused on the homepage, nav menus, product grids, and detail pages - keeping it clean, intuitive, and on-brand, all while staying within a tight budget.
  • Prioritized mobile: since many users browse and buy while out in the field, we made sure the experience on smartphones was smooth. Think thumb-friendly controls, fast load times, and clear paths to checkout.
  • Enabled and set up core B2B features: multi-user accounts, role-based permissions (e.g., buyer vs. approver), company-wide shopping lists, and auto-registration flows. We also added support for saved addresses and dynamic pricing.
  • Connected the workflow between systems:
    • QuickBooks for real-time syncing of invoices and financials;
    • ShipStation to streamline shipping, fulfillment, and tracking;
    • TruPIM as the product info source of truth, auto-syncing catalog data into BigCommerce;
    • PipeDrive, via Zapier, to keep customer profiles up to date.
  • Built custom pricing logic based on customer type and order size: on product pages, users could instantly see both unit and total pricing based on quantity - no calculator needed.
  • Added smart marketing tools like abandoned cart emails, live order status updates, and product tags to spotlight high-volume or must-stock items.
  • Took a phased approach to roll things out: this minimized downtime and left room to introduce new features later, such as custom-branded tape, product videos, and deeper CRM integration.

Project Results

With the new site in place, Tape Guys saw a noticeable uptick in mobile orders. Field techs could now order what they needed without calling in, and fewer support requests meant faster turnaround times. Integrations between shipping, accounting, and sales tools helped cut back on manual work and data errors. Most important: the new setup gave Tape Guys a strong digital foundation that ready to support a growing catalog and new industries as the business expands.
