Project Overview

CAS (Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education) offers digital standards and assessment tools for higher education institutions. But their outdated e-commerce platform was holding them back. The system felt clunky, lacked meaningful customer insights, and forced staff to process orders manually. Marketing options were limited, reporting was a hassle, and there was no smooth connection between their store, MemberClicks (their AMS), or their accounting tools.

To break free from the constraints of their legacy setup, we led a full digital commerce rebuild anchored in BigCommerce.

What We Delivered:
  • Launched a refreshed storefront that makes it easier for users to search, browse, and find digital resources (from Standards to Self-Assessment Guides and companion papers)
  • Reorganized their product catalog around compatibility and use cases, helping visitors quickly spot related materials.
  • Smoothed out the checkout process to suit both individuals and institutions. We added guest checkout, flexible user roles, and clear flows for every buyer type.
  • Synced BigCommerce with MemberClicks Trade so customer data updates automatically in their AMS/CRM without double entry.
  • Connected QuickBooks for real-time financial visibility and easier reconciliation across sales and payments.
  • Set up direct digital downloads at checkout, removing the need for staff to manually fulfill every order.
  • Integrated Mailchimp to power smarter marketing: automated email flows, audience retargeting, and segmented campaigns.
  • Implemented GDPR compliance tools, cookie consent settings, and built-in social sharing features like a Twitter feed and Facebook like button.
  • Ran comprehensive testing across key workflows as checkout, delivery and reporting to ensure everything clicked before launch.
