Approach / Work Done

Danforth Pewter had a hard deadline. Their Magento 2 license was winding down, and they needed to switch to BigCommerce fast. With the clock ticking, we had to be smart about what mattered most: keeping the features their customers relied on, making the shopping experience better, and using BigCommerce’s management API to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.

What We Delivered:
  • We moved their site to BigCommerce on a tight turnaround. That meant preserving key features and giving the interface a refresh it sorely needed. Behind the curtain, BigCommerce’s API helped clean up and simplify how data flowed between systems.
  • One of the trickier pieces was the custom engraving tool. It needed to play nicely with their ERP, Acumatica. We used BigCommerce’s Checkout SDK to tailor the checkout flow so everything - pricing, inventory, routing - lined up just right.
  • Late in the project, there was a shift. Danforth decided to skip the third-party gift card provider, so we built a new solution from scratch on AWS. This custom middleware linked BigCommerce to their gift card system and kept everything in sync, down to the second, through an API.
  • AWS wasn’t just for the gift cards. It also handled other major integrations and kept the site steady during heavy traffic spikes.

Project Results

The new BigCommerce platform was launched on schedule, with full preservation of critical functionality and improved site usability. Real-time integration with Acumatica now ensures accurate pricing, inventory, and order data, reducing manual workload. Custom tools - such as engraving and gift card features - were successfully implemented and are now fully automated. AWS-backed infrastructure supports system stability and performance during peak loads. The site is easier to maintain and better equipped to support future growth.
