About The Client

In 2010, the company emerged from a bloodline of industry innovation; founded by a team of experienced industry professionals and former U.S. servicemen. Based outside of St. Louis, Missouri, the company specalizes in building high-quality American made Berry compliant gear for the Special Operations community, Tier 1 Military and Law Enforcement teams.

Approach / Work done

The Client was facing steep licensing charges in the new billing cycle. With their business model they did not see much value in paying for a platform they were not using to full extent and decided to replatform to BigCommerce. The entire project had to be executed under a very pressing timeline: we only had 1.5 months from start to finish to complete discovery, implementation, testing and data migration before the old platform’s license would expire.

After a thorough discovery the client was advised to pick a marketplace theme and limit the scope of UI customizations to the bare minimum in order to match their brand guidelines.

Custom features had to be added in order to support unique business logic for personalized products, product bundles and product purchasing restrictions.

Most complexity came from the data migration. Client’s catalog is relatively large and contains hundreds of configurable products with variants, including image swatches that had to be migrated over. A complex custom data transformation script had to be written in order to migrate the data without any loss or corruption.

Project Results

The merchant was able to launch on time and budget, which seemed like a near-impossible task at the time of initial discovery.
